Lunch Out Loud continues upward trend, reaches highest ratings yet
Since quarter one of 2021 when ABS-CBN started airing its key programs on TV5, such as ASAP Natin ‘Toh and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, there have been talks if the other flagship programs of the Kapamilya network are also transferring to TV5.
Its decade-long noontime show It’s Showtime, headlined by Vice Ganda, is one of the whispers industry insiders have been hearing if they will also be entering TV5 via blocktime. But fast forward to today, the Kapatid network and Brightlight-produced Lunch Out Loud (LOL) is still very much strong on the block, going against the rivals head-on.
We got word from the LOL team that just last Aug. 11, it earned its highest rating yet of 2.4 according to Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement or NUTAM of AGB Nielsen. Its average last June 20 to 26 was at 1.5 and from June 27 to July 3 was 1.6. That’s a seven-percent increase for the show, which is hard-earned, according to main host Alex Gonzaga.
“You are still competing with iyong mga andyan na iyong mga higante na sa industriya sa noontime but the fact that we are getting good ratings,” she said, “mas nakakataba siya ng puso na kahit ano makuha namin na ratings, okay lang pero the fact na tumataas ratings namin, ibig sabihin non, there is recommendation and may loyalty na.”
In fact, Alex recently went around her area in Rizal to give prizes as a celebration for reaching 10 million subscribers on her YouTube account. And she had quite the surprise when her kababayan started to recognize her from her TV5 noontime show Lunch Out Loud.
“Hindi ko makakalimutan iyong time na nag-10 million subscribers ako,” she recalled, “so umikot ako dito sa aming area, sa Pasig, sa Cainta so umikot ako kasi maghahanap ako ng mga subscribers, kasi if alam nila videos ko, bibigyan ko sila ng pera so may mga tatlo doon na hindi alam na may vlog, pero sabi nila nanunuod sila sa’kin sa Lunch Out Loud Yun, sabi nila! Yung isa naman tinanggal ko pa mask ko tapos sabi niya oh! Ikaw yung host sa Hope! Yung segment namin!”
H.O.P.E., which means “Hindi, Oo, Puwede, Ewan,” is one of LOL’s strong segments. Hosted by Alex with Bayani Agbayani, it gives people opportunities to patch up life issues that made them fall apart almost for good.
Alex commended the staff, writers and program heads of LOL for the creative and original segments they’ve produced. The actress, comedian, vlogger and host said that her inputs are mostly for their socials. The LOL YouTube page now has more than half a million subscribers and counting. She felt that the team is in it for the long haul and added that even though she is one of the most successful vloggers of the country, mainstream TV still hits the spot for her.
“For me, mas papanuorin ka sa social media if may presence ka rin sa mainstream, so maganda kasi ito for me kasi hindi naman lahat ng matatanda nakakapanuod ng vlogs and at the same time, hindi lahat sa vlog ko nabibigyan namin ng tulong o pagkakataon, so I still have this show Lunch Out Loud na nakakatulong talaga sa Tropang LOL,” she said.
