Mojdeh leads winers in yearend inter-school swim
MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen young swimmers bagged Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) awards in the 151st Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series-LC5 Inter-School Friendship swimming meet held at the LC5 swimming pool in Gen. Santos City at yearend.
Palarong Pambansa multi-gold medallist Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Parañaque and Jie Angela Talosig of South Christian College Pirates bannered the awardees.
Mojdeh and Talosig both earned 97 points to share top honors in the girls’ 11-12 division of the event hosted by Lolita Palacios and Bob Palacios, PSL regional director for Mindanao.
Jasmine Cabajar of Davao Northern Shark (girls’ 7-8) and Nicole Rojo of LC5 Swimming School (girls’ 13-14) earned 100 points each to dominate their respective age-bands.
The other MOS winners in the girls’ class were Hannah White of Susan Papa Swim Academy (6-under), Xyreille Chiong of South Christian College Pirates (9-10) and Phelicity Bose of Waterland Snakeheads Swim School (15-over).
Awardees in the boys’ category were South Christian College Pirates standouts Jibril Talosig (6-under), John Alexander Talosig (13-14) and Cyrryl Vallar (15-over), Anthony Acedo of Aqua Tiera Swim Team (7-8), Izyndro Warain of Rasa Kidapawan (9-10) and Francisco Cordero of LC5 Swimming School (11-12).
Mojdeh notched new marks in the 200m breaststroke (2:52.65) and 200m butterfly (2:28.09) while Cordero broke the old record in the 200m breaststroke (2:44.87).
The other record-breakers were Bose (100m breaststroke, 1:13.49) John Alexander Talosig (400m freestyle, 4:22.56), Klent Garcia (boys’ 9-10 100m breaststroke, 1:32.07) and Mary Batalla (girls’ 13-14 200m butterfly, 2:56.92).
