Filipina to perform at pre-Grammy show
US-based Pinay singer Tiana Kocher has been chosen as performer at a pre-Grammy show which music industry luminaries are expected to attend.
Indeed, the gig is a major step for her.
“I am a person who believes everything is a blessing and an opportunity which is why I never really turn things down either. I am grateful for everything good that comes my way,” she said. “I’m (also) excited to be opening for a special artist in February and I have a couple of dates set already in April. I plan to stay very busy in 2020.”
Some of the songs Tiana will sing at the pre-Grammy show are her own. These are the R&B “Don’t Trip,” “FWU” and “U Tried It.”
Tiana said it took a lot of trial and error to get to where she is now.
“And also meeting the right people to help me with my career. It really does take a village of good people. I have a great team behind me and support system,” she said.
Tiana was born and raised in Manila but she spent much of her teens abroad. She grew up surrounded by musicians; her mother is Katrina Ponce-Enrile whose own mother loved to sing at private soirees. Her grand aunts, Irma Potenciano and the late Armida Siguion-Reyna, were famous opera singers who delved in theatre, films and television.
Tiana obtained a performing arts degree from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. She’s now based in Los Angeles. (Report by Ayunan Gunting)
