B-day boy Piolo posts photo of smoke from Taal Volcano

Piolo Pascual has posted on Facebook, a photo of ash and smoke spewed Jan. 12 after the phreatic eruption of Taal Volcano.

Based on his Facebook account, the photo was taken in Mabini, Batangas, about 50 km away from the volcano. It can be presumed the shot was from a vantage point in the province, near his rest house as a video uploaded on his YouTube account today reveal it’s where he had his “birthday salubong.”

“My birthday wish right now is for everyone to be safe,” the 43-year-old actor wrote as caption.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised the alert status of Taal Volcano in Batangas from level 3 to 4.

In a graph disseminated by the Philippine Red Cross- Batangas Chapter which they credited to Phivolcs, Alert level 4 means there is “intense unrest” and that “hazardous eruption is possible within days.”

“Extension of Danger zone to 8 km or more in the sector where the crater rim is low will be recommended,” part of the text in the graph read.
